Emily Dickinson Museum Celebrates Groundbreaking

We’re excited to announce a groundbreaking ceremony was held to celebrate construction beginning on the rebuild of the historic Evergreens nineteenth-century Carriage House!

The building is scheduled for completion in 2025 and will initially serve as a welcome center for visitors of the Emily Dickinson Museum. In the longer term, it will be utilized as program and educational space.

This project is not only a nod to history but also a significant step towards sustainability. The Carriage House will be the first Passive House building at Amherst College.

Together with our consultant team—including Berkshire Design Group, Macchi Engineers, LLC, Kuegler Associates LLC, Zero Energy Design Lab, and Power House Energy Consulting—and in collaboration with the Emily Dickinson Museum, Historic Preservation Consultant Shantia Anderheggen, Amherst College, and CM Teagno Construction Inc, we are honored to contribute to a space that celebrates the life, family, and enduring legacy of the iconic American poet Emily Dickinson.
