Architecture 2030, an independent non-profit founded in 2002, stands as a beacon for addressing our pressing climate challenges. Its primary mission revolves around significantly reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions within the built environment, aiming to remove the building industries status as a major contributor to CO2 emissions. For two decades, they’ve led the charge by offering innovative leadership and design strategies to cut carbon emissions.
In alignment with this vision, edmSTUDIO has joined the AIA 2030 Commitment, committing to slash energy usage and CO2 emissions in their designs. The commitment assists us in creating a sustainable action plan for our firm and by leveraging AIA 2030’s platform, we can compare building designs against national benchmarks for different building types. These benchmarks provide estimated performance levels based on building types and local climate patterns.
Moreover, edmSTUDIO recognizes the need for consistent and robust metrics regarding actual building performance. We actively support AIA 2030’s Design Data Exchange (DDx), utilizing it to track and compare building performance metrics, ultimately striving to establish superior industry practices.
